Teacher Job Outlook for Georgia

SPAGE Webinar

Featuring Dr. Jerry Eads of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
10:00-11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 12, 2011

We know the question on every future teacher’s mind, “Will I be able to find a job when I graduate?” While no one can look into a crystal ball to answer that question, what we can do is take a solid look at teacher supply and demand data in Georgia and get a sense for the teacher job outlook. That’s exactly what Dr. Jerry Eads of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission will do on Saturday, February 12th.   Which major subject fields carry the heaviest teacher demand? Which areas of the state have growing student enrolment? Answers to these and other similar questions can give you a sense of where lies the best potential for future teaching positions.

SPAGE members will “gather” over the Internet in this live event from the comfort of their home computers, where they will have the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of one of the state’s leading experts in teacher supply and demand.  There is no cost to participate.  Register online now!

Dr. Jerry Eads is Coordinator of Research & Evaluation for the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, where he studies the state’s comprehensive student and teacher data collections and teacher supply and demand for the state’s 2,359 schools. He also serves as graduate adjunct faculty for Georgia State’s College of Education Department of Educational Policy Studies. Some of his previous responsibilities during his career include a decade studying public school early childhood programs, a three-year study of Georgia’s alternative schools and leadership of the state of Virginia’s student testing program. His degree is from Kansas State University in educational psychology.
